Jennifer Garner was originally born in Houston Texas on 17 April 1973. Her family was however raised at Charleston West Virginia. The father of Jennifer Garner, William John Garner, was a chemical engineer at Union Carbide. Her mother Patricia Ann taught at a local university. To follow her father, she graduated with a degree in chemical engineering. In order to pursue her dream as an actress, she moved in New York to try her chance in the movie industry. Her Broadway role was accompanied by a job in a local eatery. She played a minor role in the film "Felicity" (where it was that she first came into contact with Scott Foley). Garner made her breakthrough in the action film "Alias." Garner's first lead role was in the acclaimed romantic comedy "13 going on thirty." The film starred her as an teen who was trapped in the body of an older woman of 30. Garner decided to hire Gary Winick (director) to create the film. Together, they searched for projects that could be made before Winick's passing in 2011. In 2009, Garner became an ambassador to the arts for Save the Children U.S.A. The program focuses on education, nutrition, and literacy as well as early education. Garner is a board member as a member of the board since 2014, has been an advocate of early education. Being a part of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) team of ambassadors for the program, Garner visits families regularly to guide them in ways to inspire their kids to be successful.
